Last Lenten season, my family and I together with our housemates went to Camiguin Island (for the fifth time!) in Mindanao, Philippines to spend our Holy week there. For me, Camiguin Island sure is the all-in-one vacation destination. It's so complete that you can go to a White Sand Beach, or Dive in a cold Spring, or dip into a hot spring, or have a taste of a kind of water that tastes like Soda and more!

Uncle Sam’s Trekker is Butuan’s 1st Trekking Group. Founded by Uncle Sam himself (Sam Amante), we were invited to trek Mt. Mayapay and it’s surroundings. It is only 10km away from Butuan City passing thru cemented and partly rough road. Upon reaching the top, one can have a grand view of the entire city including it’s nearby towns of Buenavista and Magallanes.

We trekked there for almost 3 hours, clearing the thick ravines until we reached the site of the transmitter tower of Sun Cellular. Sam told me that unknown to other, Mt. Mayapay has more than 10 waterfalls. We were not able to take clear pictures of the view below because of the thick fog.

We are still planning to go back there and see the wonders of Mt. Mayapay in Butuan City. Mt Mayapay is surely one of the Best Places To Trek in Butuan City.
